A 22-year-old man was arrested by the Judicial Police (PJ) on suspicion of committing at least two counts of attempted rape. According to the police, the victim is a 14-year-old teenager who was approached while walking on the public highway in the municipality of Montijo.
In a statement sent to the press this Friday, the PJ said that the “events took place in the municipality of Montijo, on May 27 and 29”. When first approached, the young man “offered money and drugs in exchange for sexual favors”, which the victim refused. The teenager tried to get away, but the “suspect ended up grabbing her and taking her to a shed where he insisted again, offering even more money”.
The minor managed to escape “in a moment of inattention” on the part of the aggressor and told her mother what had happened, after which she filed a complaint with the Public Security Police (PSP).
Two days later, the victim was with a friend “when the man tried to force her into his car”. The minor managed to escape again and went to the PSP, who alerted the PJ.
The suspect, who has no previous criminal record, admitted committing the crimes and will be brought before a court for first questioning in order to apply coercive measures.
