Lionel Messi gave a long interview to the Clank website, released this Monday, on the Argentine star's birthday, in which he stressed his pride in his intrinsic gift for soccer, and ended by recalling the worst moment he had with the Argentina national team.

I'm very sure that I was born this way because God chose me, it was a gift he gave me. I've tried to take advantage of it, I've done my best to make the most of it. The truth is that I've done a lot of things well, but I haven't done anything to become the player I was when I was little," before recalling one of the worst moments of his Argentina career, when he was sent off against Hungary in a private match in 2005.

"I remember that I touched the ball two or three times at most. The truth is that I didn't understand anything when I was sent off, because I'd been in that situation many times before, when they grabbed me and took the ball away from me. The referee didn't have any tact or anything. He just sent me off," he recalled.

"It was a very difficult moment for me, because of what it meant. My debut and the fact that it was like that.... But, well, in the locker room I went in dead, crying, I couldn't help myself and the locker room hugged me, they were very close to me. Kily González told me: 'Don't worry, the same thing happened to me' and then he played I don't know how many games for the national team. He was very affectionate, supported me, looked after me... Him and all the others, but I especially remember his words," he added.
