The corpse of a newborn baby was found this Tuesday in a waste treatment plant in Madrid, Spain.

It was an employee who found the boy's body in the morning in the packaging sorting unit. According to Spanish newspaper ABC, the National Police were immediately called to the scene.

The police will now investigate the origin of the body. Among the hypotheses considered by the authorities is the possibility that the baby's corpse was left in a plastic bin in the city of Madrid hours before it was discovered.

The baby's body was taken to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Valdebebas and will be analyzed to determine when it died and whether it died naturally during childbirth or violently.
