A veritable arsenal of war material was seized "from a private individual" in Cher, France, announced the general directorate of customs and excise taxes in a message published on Friday, June 21, in X.

The message is accompanied by photographs showing "rockets, missiles, shells, weapons and ammunition of categories A, B, C and D found in a private individual's home."

According to France 3, it was the heirs of the recently deceased old collector who "contacted customs" to have the weapons seized.

In total, "56 category A weapons" were seized, including cartridges and grenades, "12 category B weapons" such as shotguns, 44 category C weapons, 26 category D weapons and almost 140 kilograms of ammunition. The agents also found a rare "turtle shell".

The collector also owned military "uniforms" and "documents" from the Second World War to the mid-20th century, according to France 3.

Most weapons will be destroyed.
