Marjan Roozendaal, a 73-year-old woman, had been missing since 14 July.
A week after the disappearance of the 73-year-old Dutch holidaymaker, who suffered from Alzheimer's disease, her body was found on Monday 22 July near the campsite where she was staying in Vacquières Hérault, France.
Marjan Roozendaal disappeared on 14 July 2024, according to the appeal launched by the authorities. On that day, around midday, she left the Parc Le Duc campsite, located between Vacquières and Fontanes, and was never seen again. Her disappearance was reported at around 4.15pm.
An intensive search was launched in the area. The police mobilized a helicopter equipped with thermal imaging cameras and a search party was also organized.
At around 8am on Monday 22 July, one of the members of the Dutch association Stichting Reddingshonden RHWW discovered the body near the campsite where Marjan Roozendaal was staying, in a steep area that was difficult to access.
According to initial findings, the cause of death was accidental.
