The success of series based on video games such as 'The Last of Us' (from HBO) and 'Fallout' (from Prime Video) has led to new adaptations based on well-known franchises being considered.
One of these franchises was PlayStation's Horizon which, after being picked up by Netflix, had an adaptation in development. Rolling Stone now says that Netflix has decided to cancel the series based on 'Horizon Zero Dawn', noting that the reason is that showrunner Steve Blackman (known for 'Umbrella Academy') has been accused of toxic behavior by members of the production team.
Although this is a setback for PlayStation's plans to bring more of its franchises to television, it is worth remembering that the second season of The Last of Us is currently in production and that Prime Video is also working on an adaptation of God of War.
