Benfica are just a few hours away from losing João Neves to PSG and the vacant place in midfield could be filled by an ‘old acquaintance’ who, curiously, doesn't count for the Parisian emblem.

The return of Renato Sanches to Luz is being studied as a consequence of the midfielder's dismissal from the French champions, according to information released by the French press on Tuesday.

Desporto ao Minuto has learnt that Benfica's interest in the 26-year-old is not recent and that these negotiations are taking place completely separately from those involving João Neves. The loan is well underway, although it is not guaranteed.

Therefore, and contrary to what has been rumoured, Renato Sanches will not be involved in the transfer of João Neves to PSG, a deal that, it should be remembered, is practically closed.

Renato Sanches, it should be remembered, left the Estádio da Luz in 2016 after just one season with Benfica's first team. He then moved to Bayern Munich, and the following season he was loaned to Swansea. Back at the German club, he played one season and was then sold to Lille. In 2022 he was bought by PSG, but a year later he was loaned to AS Roma.
