Fans of the Marvel Comics Universe were surprised on Saturday 27th. During the Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con in the United States, Robert Downey Jr. was revealed as the protagonist of ‘Doctor Fate’, who is to be the antagonist of the next two ‘Avengers’ films.
The actor, who brought billionaire Tony Stark, Iron Man, to life in the MCU films, will now play one of the Marvel universe's greatest villains.
During the announcement, the panel was filled with hooded figures wearing masks of the villain. In the middle of the crowd, Downey Jr. revealed himself, saying that he ‘likes to play complicated characters’. The artist returns in May 2026 with ‘Avengers: Doomsday’.
