A man bought a BMW X5 worth €65,000 with a cheque for just €65 in Milan, Italy, the Today newspaper reported on Wednesday.
The owner of the dealership realized he had been tricked when he went to the bank to deposit the cheque.
The criminal had asked his bank for a cheque for €65 and had subsequently added several zeros to the amount, making the cheque invalid.
The owner of the dealership therefore went to the police to file a complaint.
In the meantime, the car was geolocated and the seizure order issued by the Italian Public Prosecutor's Office allowed the military to recover it. It was parked at the Niguarda hospital in Milan.
The criminal's fate has not yet been revealed, but it is believed that it will not be difficult to identify him.
