The amount is due to damages caused by the producer violating the technology giant's patents.

The producer responsible for 'FarmVille', Zynga, will have to pay almost 45 million dollars (40.4 million euros) in damages to IBM, it was decided in court according to the website Ars Technica.

“We are disappointed with the verdict. However, we believe we will prevail on appeal,” a spokesperson for Zynga’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, told the publication.

The case arises in the context of patents held by IBM that Zynga allegedly violated in the development of its games and which, allegedly, refused to negotiate with the technology giant.
