According to the health authorities of the Palestinian enclave controlled by Hamas, the five-story building hit by the bombing housed "hundreds of displaced civilians".

Furthermore, according to the same sources cited by the Spanish news agency EFE, access to hospitals in northern Gaza has been restricted by Israeli forces, preventing treatment for dozens of injured people.

Palestinian news portals reported that another airstrike also hit the vicinity of the Kamal Adwan hospital, also in Beit Lahia.

The Israeli army has not yet commented on the attack on the Beit Lahia building.

The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that dozens of people are still trapped in the rubble of the building and that at least 20 seriously injured people were transported to Kamal Adwan.

"The Civil Defence's working system has been completely dismantled by the Israeli aggression in northern Gaza, the arrest of workers and the displacement of other personnel," said emergency services spokesman Mahmud Basal.

Israel has maintained a military siege on northern Gaza, combining an intense bombing campaign with a ground incursion that has killed more than 1,000 people in recent days, according to Hamas.

During the night, two other attacks on houses in Beit Lahia killed at least seven people, Wafa reported, adding that the army had set fire - without specifying whether it was troops or a projectile - to the Al Fajoura school, linked to the United Nations agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

"In the Jabalia area in the northern Gaza Strip, ground troops, in cooperation with the air force, eliminated around 40 armed elements in ground and air strikes," a military statement said this morning about their activities in the north, without mentioning the attack on Beit Lahia.

Since the start of the war on October 7, 2023, 43,020 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza Strip - the majority of them women and children - and 101,110 have been injured, according to the Health Ministry of the Hamas-ruled enclave.
