The European Union (EU) today condemned Israeli attacks on United Nations missions in Lebanon and bombings in "densely populated areas".

"The EU condemns all attacks against United Nations (UN) missions and expresses particular concern about the attacks by the Israeli army," wrote the High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

Ahead of the start of a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg, the High Representative criticized the missiles fired by the militia group Hezbollah into Israeli territory and Israel's bombings in "densely populated areas" in Lebanon, notably in Beirut, the country's capital.
