Patrice Evra gave an extensive interview to the British television station BBC Sport on Tuesday, in which he made a 'mea culpa' regarding the delicate moment Manchester United has been going through since he left for Juventus in 2014.

"I blame myself, I blame Sir Alex Ferguson... When we left, it was too early, and it's difficult for the players, because they're left without any role models. I'm not in the know, I don't know what the problem is", began by saying the former French international, who played 379 games for the club in the space of nine years.

"The coach, Ten Hag, is trying to do his best. He's not good enough, but it's not just about this season. It's been like this since we won the last championship, in 2013. The club has been in chaos", he added.

The former left-back also admitted that it has been "difficult" to remain "optimistic": "Our rivals are getting better and better than us, playing a better style of football. The future is not bright. It's a difficult time."

"Liverpool waited 30 years to win the Premier League again. Now, 11 years have passed [since Manchester United's last title]. I don't want to wait that long. Whatever happens, I'll be a Manchester United fan forever," he added.
