A ten-year-old girl died this Monday after being hit by a pony's kick at the Maillys equestrian center in Côte-d'Or, France.
According to the French press, the incident occurred at 9:30 am local time, when the girl fell from the pony and was hit in the head by a kick, passing out and going into cardiorespiratory arrest.
It was the child's mother who provided first aid to her daughter, with cardiac massage, but she was declared dead at the scene by the emergency services.
There was also a team of psychologists on site to support the equestrian center employees and other children.
An investigation was opened by the National Gendarmerie to determine the circumstances of the accident.
