Agostina Rubini Medina has been missing since October 2, in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, after a night out with a group of friends.
According to Spanish media, the 24-year-old disappeared after a night of partying, having been launched several notices to find his whereabouts.
Now, after several investigations, which included analyzing CCTV footage from the premises and collecting witnesses, police have shared their conclusions about what happened... and which include unexpected details.
According to the national police, authorities are investigating the hypothesis of the young man caught in a garbage container.
Security footage showed Agostina moving to a bus stop, where she would catch transportation back home. Next to the stop would be a container.
Authorities believe that the young man entered the container to grab something, probably the cell phone, and that already inside, and due to the state of intoxication in which he was, felt unwell and could not get out.
Minutes later, the container was removed by a truck hauling the cargo to an incineration facility.
According to El Mundo, authorities and cleaning services are searching for the remains of the young man in two waste treatment areas on the island. So far, they haven't found anything.
However, the police believe that his disappearance was not voluntary nor had a criminal hand. Investigators argue that Agostina was the victim of an unfortunate accident.
