A one-year-old baby choked to death on Saturday morning in a house in the Spanish town of Albolote, in Granada.
According to the Spanish newspaper El Mundo, which cites sources from the emergency services, the incident occurred at 9:00 a.m. local time (8:00 a.m. in Lisbon), when an alert was given for "a possible case of choking" and a request for "help for the child".
The Guardia Civil rushed to the scene and a medical team "could do nothing to save the child's life" and declared the death.
The baby's body was taken to the headquarters of the Institute of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy, which should determine the exact cause of death.
So far, El Mundo reports, no further details about the incident are known, including what caused the choking.
