The developer of the ‘Pokémon’ series of games, Game Freak, has been the target of a cyberattack that resulted in the theft of data, which revealed information not only about the company’s employees but also about future projects.
As reported by the IGN website, Game Freak has already confirmed that the attack took place in August 2024, noting that its server was illegally accessed, with 2,606 names and emails of employees (current and former) having been accessed.
Furthermore, it was revealed that Nintendo’s next console has “Ounce” as its codename and that the next generation of ‘Pokémon’ games is known internally as “Gaia”. According to the leak, it is believed that these new games are being developed for the successor to the Switch.
