Hate it when your towels get that musty, musty smell? To prevent this from happening, you need to adopt certain habits. Recently, Mary Gagliardi, a scientist and cleaning expert at Clorox, quoted on Martha Stewart's website, offered some tips for keeping your towels smelling clean and fresh.

Tips to ensure that your towels never smell bad:
- Wash your machine with bleach once a month. This helps to keep it clean and, consequently, prevent your clothes, as well as your towels, from starting to smell bad, she explains
- Use hot water to wash your towels. Doing this "helps to prevent mold and other odors";
- Wash your towels regularly. Make sure to change your towels and wash them "after three or four uses";
- Use the right amount of detergent. When you use too much detergent, your clothes and towels can get dirtier and have residue build-up. "To help ensure you're always using the correct amount of detergent, I recommend using an ultra-concentrated detergent," he adds.
