Around 1,000 wounded and sick women and children will soon be withdrawn from Gaza, the European director of the World Health Organization (WHO) announced today in an interview with France Presse.

Israel has pledged to make around ‘a thousand additional medical withdrawals to the European Union in the coming months,’ said Hans Kluge, emphasizing that this will be facilitated by the WHO in collaboration with the host countries.

Since October 2023, the WHO has been involved in around 600 medical withdrawals from Gaza to seven European countries.

‘This would never have happened if we hadn't maintained dialogue,’ he added, stressing that the organization has the same concerns about Ukraine.

‘We have to try not to politicize health,’ he stressed in the same interview with Agence France Presse.

At the moment, no further details have been released about the departure of 1,000 citizens from Gaza.

Israel's large-scale military operation against Gaza began after the Hamas attack in October last year, which left more than 1,200 people dead.

The Israeli attack has claimed more than 40,000 lives in the Palestinian enclave, according to Hamas health officials.
