An 82-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assault and hate crime after an argument with Donald Trump supporters, says ABC News.
According to this publication, the elderly woman had confronted these supporters, asking them why they wanted to vote for the Republican candidate.
The incident happened on Monday, the day before the election, on a Washington street where several Trump supporters were gathered.
The suspect allegedly pushed and punched another 55-year-old woman after becoming involved in a verbal altercation. He then allegedly struck another 66-year-old woman in the jaw.
"Neither victim suffered significant injuries nor required medical treatment," Edmonds police said in a statement issued Wednesday.
The suspect revealed to ABC what happened, saying that she approached the women to question why they voted for Trump, as they were black women.
"I hate racism in this country, I hate the way people are treated. So I questioned why black people supported this man. That was my question," he said.
After that, she claims she began to be attacked, at which point she defended herself.
It is worth remembering that Donald Trump actually ended up winning the elections, being named the 47th president of the USA.
