The Israeli army has banned military personnel from travelling to the Netherlands following incidents that injured at least 10 supporters of a Tel Aviv football club following a match in Amsterdam.

"Following an assessment of the situation, the army is banning all active duty personnel from travelling to the Netherlands until further notice," the Israeli military said in a statement.

A clash erupted following a football match between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Ajax in the Europa League, in which 10 supporters of the Israeli club were injured.

Ajax beat Maccabi 5-0 in the match on Thursday night.

According to Dutch authorities, 57 people were arrested overnight in Amsterdam following clashes between suspected anti-Gaza protesters and a group of Maccabi supporters.

Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof condemned the incidents, saying he was "horrified by the anti-Semitic attacks against Israeli citizens".

Schoof leads a right-wing coalition government and assured, in a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, that "those responsible will be identified and brought to justice".

Meanwhile, Israel's Foreign Minister announced that he would travel to Amsterdam today "urgently".
