Fingerprints collected at the scene of the murder of Brian Thompson, CEO of UnitedHealthcare, match those of Luigi Mangione, arrested for the murder, according to police sources confirmed to CNN International.

It should be noted that this is the first positive forensic match that investigators say directly links Mangione to the crime scene, which took place outside a Midtown Manhattan hotel.

Authorities continue to investigate the background and motivations of the suspect, who is being held in Pennsylvania while he fights extradition to New York.

Mangione's attorney has denied his client's involvement in the killing and said he plans to plead not guilty to Pennsylvania charges related to a gun and a fake ID police found when they arrested him in Altoona.

"I haven't seen any proof that they have the right man," Thomas Dickey said on The Source.

The young man, it is worth remembering, was arrested while eating at a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania, after an employee saw him and alerted the police.

Police had previously revealed that in his possession were handwritten documents, specifically this "three-page manifesto", which spoke of his "motivation and mindset".

It is worth remembering that the 26-year-old young man killed the CEO of one of the largest North American insurance companies last Wednesday. In the manifesto, which he had in his possession, he apologized for the trauma he could have caused, but showed no regret.

The young man, it is worth remembering, belongs to a wealthy family, well known in his local community and which has contributed millions of dollars to the health industry.

Thompson's murder uncovered the fury of many Americans against the health care industry. UnitedHealthCare provides health insurance services to more than 50 million people.
