A customer at a Chinese restaurant in Perth, Australia, was surprised by the amount of the bill after having a plate of pasta with lobster, without knowing the price beforehand, on January 3.

According to the Australian press, Reanne Ho paid 615 Australian dollars, around 370 euros for the dish served at Canton Lane Chinese Restaurant.

On social media, the woman expressed her indignation, lamenting the restaurant's lack of transparency in the price of the dishes, since, she claims, she was not informed "clearly" of the weight and price of the lobster.

Reanne also complained, according to Yahoo News Australia, that the dish was served without the restaurant following the common practice of presenting the crustaceans at the table before preparing them.

At the time, the Australian woman also questioned the restaurant's staff about the veracity of the price, to which they responded that there was no mistake.

The following day, still uncomfortable with the situation, Reanne contacted the restaurant to clarify what had happened, to which she was told that the lobster weighed around 2 kg and cost 120 dollars per kg, something like 116 euros. Furthermore, the dish included five portions of pasta, which justifies the price of the dish.

The incident had repercussions on social media, with some internet users pointing the finger at the restaurant for dishonesty, and others defending the restaurant, highlighting that Reanne should have asked the real price of the dish before ordering it.

In the face of criticism, Canton Lane Chinese Restaurant admitted on social media that there had been a failure to communicate, but denied any intention to deceive customers. "Yes, there was negligence in not informing the weight and price of the dish, but there was definitely no mistake," they wrote.

In the post, the restaurant also showed images from the surveillance cameras that show the moment the lobster was removed from the aquarium.
