The Government has ordered ANA Aeroportos to move forward with the construction of the new airport.
The information is provided in a statement from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing, which Notícias ao Minuto had access to. In it, the Government announces that it has informed ANA that it intends for the concessionaire to prepare the application for the new Lisbon airport at the Tires shooting range, in Alcochete.
It should be noted that the Government was due to announce this Friday whether it intends for ANA to move forward with the application process for the construction of Luís Sá Carneiro Airport, following the proposal presented in the Initial Report submitted to the Executive.
"In compliance with the contractually stipulated deadlines, the Government today informed ANA - Aeroportos de Portugal (Concessionaire), through a Letter signed by the Minister of State and Finance, Joaquim Miranda Sarmento, and by the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Miguel Pinto Luz, that it intends for the Concessionaire to prepare the Application for the New Lisbon Airport Luís de Camões (NAL)", it can be read.
The executive led by Luís Montenegro also emphasizes that "the concessionaire's proposal does not foresee a direct contribution from the State Budget".
