TikTok Officially Banned in the US

Since the early hours of the morning (19), TikTok is no longer available in the United States. Users who tried to access the platform in the United States were informed of the reason why the platform went offline in the country.


“A law banning TikTok has been enacted in the US,” the message said. “Unfortunately, this means you cannot use TikTok for the time being.”


“We are fortunate that President Trump has indicated that he will work with us on a solution to reinstate TikTok when he takes office. Please stay tuned!” the statement continued.


Last year, the United States Supreme Court passed a law that required the sale of TikTok or face a ban. The reason is the app’s ties to China, since the company that controls the platform is ByteDance, which is based in Beijing.


The law was overwhelmingly approved by Congress last year and signed into law by President Joe Biden. TikTok, which faced national security concerns due to its ties to the Chinese.
