The 23-year-old man suspected of killing Louise, an 11-year-old girl murdered in France, has reportedly confessed to the crime, according to Le Parisien.
Owen L. is the prime suspect in the crime that took place on February 7th. The victim suffered several blows with a sharp object and his body was found hours later.
Louise disappeared after leaving school in Épinay-sur-Orge on Friday afternoon and was found dead around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday in a wood.
The 23-year-old is described as a "video game addict" and lives in Épinay-sur-Orge, very close to Louise's parents' home. His DNA was found on Louise's body. At the time of his arrest, he had scratches and cuts on his hands.
The motives for the crime remain unclear as there is no information that Louise and Owen had any disagreement. It is also known that there was no sexual crime and that the girl was found dressed.
French media reports that an investigation is underway into whether Owen took it out on Louise after a defeat in an online video game left him angry. “But, at this stage, these are statements that must be treated with caution and we still cannot say what the motive might have been,” recalled a source close to the investigations.
It is worth remembering that the suspect's parents and girlfriend, also 23 years old, were arrested and accused of not having "reported a crime".
The Public Prosecutor's Office detailed that the 49-year-old man, the 48-year-old woman and the young woman were initially heard as witnesses, but inconsistencies in their accounts led the authorities to change strategy.
