A journalist for Russian state television has died in the explosion of an “enemy mine” in the Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine, her employer announced on its website today.

“Anna Prokofieva, a war reporter for Pervy Kanal, died in the line of duty. It happened in the Belgorod region, on the border with Ukraine, when the film crew (...) stepped on an enemy mine,” said a source at the state television channel, adding that another crew member was injured.

At the beginning of March, Russia claimed to have repelled attempted incursions by the Ukrainian army into the region, which is often the target of air strikes.
