President Donald Trump threatened to invoke the Insurrection Act if Minnesota politicians fail to stop attacks on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Minneapolis amid protests against ICE operations. The threat followed an incident where three Venezuelan nationals—Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis, Alfredo Alejandro Ajorna, and Gabriel Alejandro Hernandez-Ledezma—assaulted an ICE agent with a snow shovel and broom handle during a traffic stop, prompting the agent to fire a defensive shot that wounded Sosa-Celis in the leg. The suspects barricaded themselves in an apartment before being arrested, with the injured agent and Sosa-Celis hospitalized.
