Convicted killer and rapist Thabo Bester has been transferred from Kgosi Mampuru Prison in Pretoria to eBongweni Super Maximum Prison in KwaZulu‑Natal, one of South Africa’s most secure facilities.
His legal team only found out about the move when a family friend arrived to visit him at his old facility and discovered he had already been relocated, prompting them to say they plan to challenge the transfer in court and seek his return.
Bester is serving a life sentence.
