The Federal Police reported in a statement that Operation Catrapo II complies with 13 search and seizure warrants, 15 warrants for the kidnapping of goods and valuables from people and companies, in addition to two temporary arrest warrants and a preventive arrest warrant, this one to be fulfilled in Belgium.
The actions take place in the Brazilian states of Mato Grosso, Amazonas, Ceará, Minas Gerais, Santa Catarina and São Paulo.
According to the police authority, the investigation to combat international drug trafficking and money laundering identified assets worth 100 million reais (17.1 million euros) in aircraft, properties and luxury vehicles used to hide the group's assets. under study.
During the first phase of the operation, carried out in July 2022, 16 people were charged with international drug trafficking and association with drug trafficking. In addition, there was the kidnapping and seizure of approximately 50 million reais (8.6 million euros) and the interception of 2.1 tons of cocaine.
"During the investigations, the organization proved to be highly structured, with the capacity to manage large sums of money and absorb significant losses resulting from the seizures of drugs, aircraft and other assets, which have occurred since the beginning of the police investigations", it was highlighted in the statement from the Federal Police.
"It should be noted that international cooperation proved to be (...) fundamental to the efficiency of the investigation, making it possible to carry out investigations abroad, in addition to complying with precautionary measures", concluded the Brazilian police authority.
