Italy booked their place in the knockout stages of Euro 2024 this Monday with a 1-1 draw against Italy in Leipzig, in a game that was settled after 90+8 minutes, with a goal from Zaccagni allowing the European champions to celebrate.

The first half was 'lukewarm', but it was Italy who came closest to going into the break victorious. However, as they say, 'he who doesn't score suffers' and so it was in the second half.

After a warning from the VAR, referee Danny Makkelie awarded a penalty to Croatia in the 54th minute, but Gigi Donnarumma was 'agog' to save Luka Modric's spot-kick. The move could have shaken the Real Madrid midfielder, but it didn't... In less than a minute, the Croatian star was in the right place to redeem himself and score the goal that lifted his team into second place.
