This Sunday, Al-Najma announced the appointment of Mário Silva as head coach of the team that plays in the second division of the Saudi Arabian league.

"I'm very happy to be here. I hope that together we can have a great season," he said.

"I also hope for the support of the fans. They'll be important to us. Thank you very much. I'm very proud. We hope to succeed together," he added.

In this way, Mário Silva joins the ranks of Portuguese coaches making a name for themselves in Saudi soccer, which already includes Jorge Jesus (Al Hilal), Luís Castro (Al Nassr), Vítor Pereira (Al-Shabab) and Paulo Duarte (Al-Kholood).

It's worth remembering that the 47-year-old coach played for Boavista and FC Porto before joining Almería in 2019, before moving on to Rio Ave and Santa Clara.
