This Monday morning, Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi condemned the attack on US presidential candidate Donald Trump, describing it as an "inadmissible act of violence".
"Violence, in any form, cannot and should not be tolerated. Attacks on the life of any individual, especially political leaders, represent a serious threat to democratic principles and social peace", states a message of solidarity that Nyusi addressed his US counterpart, Joe Biden.
The head of state expresses, in the note released today by the Presidency, the desire for a prompt recovery for Donald Trump, saluting the law and order bodies for the "prompt measures taken to avoid the worst".
Filipe Nyusi reaffirms "confidence in the democratic institutions of the United States of America and in the ability of its people to overcome this challenge with the resilience and determination they have always shown".
Donald Trump was the victim of an assassination attempt on Saturday night, in the city of Butler, in the state of Pennsylvania, during a campaign rally.
The former president and presidential candidate was slightly injured in his ear and was removed from the stage where his last rally was taking place before the Republican Party convention, which begins today.
Two people died in the attack, including the shooter, identified by the US Federal Police (FBI) as Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, who opened fire from a rooftop near the rally site.
