John Cena's career as a wrestler already has an end date. The revelation was made by Cena himself at an event in Toronto, Canada, this weekend.

"Today, I'm announcing my retirement from the WWE," said the 47-year-old actor.

"I've heard a lot of opinions out there. A lot of questions. Like, why here? I want to talk about that for a second," he introduced.

"I've been doing this for a while. I've been in WWE for over two decades and during that time I've seen incredible waves of prosperity like the one we have now. WWE is the most sought-after event, without a doubt," he noted.

Cena thanked the fans for the affection he has received throughout his career as a wrestler. He also said that his final tour will be in 2025, and that he will take part in competitions such as the Royal Rumble, the Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania.

The star joined the WWE in 2001 and has been champion 16 times.
