Benfica want to quickly forget last season, when everything seemed to go wrong, and attention is already turning to the new season, which begins with 29 players at Roger Schmidt's disposal. With the arrivals of Leandro Barreiro and Pavlidis, the German coach has spent 215 million euros since arriving in Luz, figures analyzed in this Thursday's edition of the newspaper O Jogo.

At the top of the list of the most expensive transfers made under Schmidt's approval is Orkun Kokçu. The Turkish midfielder cost 25 million euros, although last season he caused a stir by complaining about his lack of playing time for the eagles. Arthur Cabral, on the other hand, cost 20 million euros, an investment that didn't convince the fans.

Pavlidis and Marcos Leonardo come next on the list. Both forwards cost 18 million euros and exceeded the investment made by Enzo Fernández, bought for 16.2 million euros. The Argentinian midfielder was sold to Chelsea six months later for 121 million euros.
