A Delta Airlines flight carrying players from the Carolina Panthers NFL team veered off the runway moments after landing at Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina on Friday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:35 a.m. [7:35 a.m. ET] when Delta Flight 8860 landed at the airport in North Carolina from Providence, Rhode Island.

According to the airline, the aircraft landed safely and then veered off the runway.

Emergency crews were immediately on the scene, and Delta Airlines later confirmed that none of the 188 passengers were injured in the potentially disastrous incident.

An unknown number of players from the Carolina Panthers, who had played the New England Patriots in an NFL preseason game hours earlier, were on board.

Passengers were able to safely exit the flight shortly after the incident and were "transported by bus to the terminal," the airline said.
