New Orleans police are searching for two people accused of stealing human remains from an apartment in the US in July.
According to ABC, the suspects are believed to have stolen "a bicycle and a package containing the remains of a deceased person".
The incident, which took place in July, has only just become public knowledge, with the owner of the stolen bicycle claiming that the ashes belonged to a neighbor's niece.
It is believed that this man was the one who raised the alarm, via a poster posted on the building, which revealed that the package - which appeared to be a FedEx package - contained the ashes of his relative. He therefore asked anyone with information to report it.
Using surveillance footage, it was possible to catch the thieves stealing a bicycle belonging to the woman, and the package in question could be seen in the vehicle.
The police have launched an appeal with a picture of the thieves and asking for the public's help in locating them.
