UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer met with his Lebanese counterpart Najib Mikati in London today to discuss the situation in the Middle East, stressing the need to "protect civilian lives" in Lebanon.
According to a Downing Street spokesman, Starmer and Mikati stressed "the importance of protecting civilian lives and critical infrastructure in Lebanon".
They also stressed the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire in Lebanon and a political solution in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
Starmer and Mikati also stressed the need to work towards a "sustainable peace" in the Middle East.
