France and Morocco today finalized contracts and investment agreements, for a value that could reach "up to ten billion euros", announced the French presidency, during Emmanuel Macron's state visit to Rabat.

The French President and the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI, today signed a total of 22 agreements, including four on railway issues, in a ceremony presided over by King Mohamed VI and Emmanuel Macron, who is carrying out a three-day state visit to the country of Maghreb, accompanied by his wife, Brigitte Macron.

Among these agreements, the one signed between the Moroccan state railway company ONCF and the French company Alstom for the supply of high-speed trains between Kenitra (center) and the city of Marrakesh, in the south, stands out.

The French group Alstom will negotiate a supply contract for 12 to 18 sets of high-speed trains, according to sources close to the process cited by the agency France-Presse (AFP).

French aircraft engine and equipment manufacturer Safran will establish a maintenance and repair site for its LEAP main engine in Casablanca, Morocco, as part of a memorandum of understanding signed with the Moroccan Government.

This agreement concerns "the creation of a LEAP engine maintenance workshop that will be operational in 2026", specifies Safran in a press release.

Other agreements are expected to be signed on Tuesday.

The Moroccan royal cabinet revealed, in a statement, that Emmanuel Macron today invited King Mohamed VI to make a state visit to France, and he was accepted and the trip will be defined through diplomatic channels.

This official invitation was communicated to the monarch during his meeting at the Royal Palace of Rabat with the French President, who with this trip sealed the Franco-Moroccan reconciliation following Paris' support for the Moroccan autonomy plan for Western Sahara.

The statement added that the two heads of state committed to opening a new era in bilateral relations within the framework of a "renewed exceptional partnership" and a "strategic roadmap" for the coming years.

The Moroccan royalty explained that the two leaders seek, through this association, to give a "decisive boost to the multidimensional relations of excellence" between Morocco and France, to respond to the ambitions of both countries and face international developments and challenges together.

The two Heads of State agreed to work together to reinforce the Euro-Mediterranean, African and Atlantic projection, in a common action in favor of prosperity and human and sustainable development.

They emphasized the importance of profoundly renewing the partnership between the two shores of the Mediterranean, to build a more stable, sustainable and prosperous future for the entire region, responding to current socioeconomic and environmental challenges.

On the other hand, the two Heads of State called for the immediate cessation of attacks in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, and highlighted the priority of protecting civilian populations and ensuring and expediting the provision of sufficient humanitarian aid.
