The Mozambican national team suffered their first defeat of the qualifying phase for CAN 2025 on Friday, losing 0-1 to Mali, to whom they lost the lead in Group I.
With Sportinguista Geny Catamo in the Mambas' starting eleven, the only goal of the match was scored by Doumbia in the 19th minute. Chiquinho Conde made five changes in the second half, but the home team were unable to turn things around and came away with a defeat.
With this victory, Mali ended up 'stealing' the lead from Mozambique and climbing to first place with 11 points, three more than their rivals this afternoon. If Mali has already qualified for the final phase of CAN'2025, Mozambique will fight with Guinea-Bissau for that qualification in the final round.
