Israel launched another attack on southern Lebanon last night, with its fighter jets targeting the command centers of the elite force of the Shiite group Hezbollah, known as Radwan, in the Nabatieh area.

Among the targets attacked was an infrastructure used by the elite force of Hezbollah "to carry out terrorist attacks against the State of Israel and Israeli troops," an Israeli military statement detailed today.

The statement added that the troops attacked more than "120 terrorist targets" throughout the neighboring country, including weapons storage facilities, command centers and a large number of launchers, including some used by Hezbollah to fire rockets towards Haifa and the Upper Galilee area in northern Israel.

The army also bombed southern Beirut, the stronghold of the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah known as Dahye, following a wave of attacks in Lebanon that has left at least 43 dead in the last few hours.

Shortly before the attacks, the Arab spokesman for the Israeli army, Avichay Adraee, urged residents of several buildings in the Ghobeiry area to leave "immediately and stay at a distance of no less than 500 meters".

In addition, the army also detected about five projectiles fired from Lebanon towards the Haifa district and the Upper Galilee, which were intercepted or landed in open areas.

In recent hours, however, reports have continued to arrive from Israeli and US media indicating that a ceasefire agreement in Lebanon could be closer.

On Thursday, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar reiterated in a conversation with his French counterpart, Jean-Noël Barrot, that there is "a desire to reach a ceasefire" in Lebanon to allow the more than 60,000 people evacuated from the north to return to their homes and that "progress" is being made in the negotiations.

However, Saar also stressed that an agreement is not enough if the international community does not guarantee that Lebanon "will be returned to the Lebanese people, instead of being controlled by the Iranian regime."
