TikTok announced the launch of the Shop e-commerce platform in Spain, which is the first step in a launch process in Europe that promises to be long.
It is worth remembering that the launch in Spain - as well as in Germany, Italy, France and Ireland - was scheduled for the beginning of the year. The change in plans was related to increased scrutiny in the US, with pressure for ByteDance's platform to be sold to another company.
TikTok Shop began rolling out in 2021 in the UK, and later also launched in the US, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Philippines and Vietnam.
