A person has been arrested in connection with the Los Angeles fires that broke out on Thursday afternoon.
A new fire broke out on Thursday afternoon in the West Hills area of California and quickly spread to Ventura County.
The alert was given at 2:30 p.m. [local time] and "about 20 to 30 minutes later, a man was arrested by citizens" on suspicion of starting the fire.
The new fire has already consumed more than 800 hectares and continues to devastate Ventura County. The suspect is a homeless man, Fox News reports.
Authorities also added that "how and why the fire was started is not known, but that it is being investigated as a "crime."
The new fire has led authorities to order the evacuation of thousands of homes in the city in the southwestern United States, where at least ten people have already died.
