The deadline for the app to be banned in the US is next Sunday, one day before the new president's inauguration.

Last year, a law was passed in the US that decreed that TikTok would be banned in the country if ByteDance did not sell the app, with the deadline being January 19 - next Sunday.

The situation has raised several doubts regarding how TikTok will stop being available to users in the US, but, according to NBC News, it seems that the Trump administration does not intend to implement this suspension of the app and will leave the decision in the hands of the administration of the new president - who takes office on Monday, January 20.

"Given the timing of [the TikTok suspension] taking effect, on a long weekend and one day before the inauguration, it will be up to the next administration to implement it," an (anonymous) member of the Biden administration told the publication.

Remember that Trump has already stated several times that he intended to find a solution to get around this suspension of TikTok in the US and, considering that the company's CEO Shou Zi Chew will be present at the inauguration, it is likely that content creators and users of the app can breathe a sigh of relief.
