Sam Altman notes that OpenAI has a smaller lead than it has in recent years.
OpenAI leader Sam Altman took part in a Q&A session on Reddit and admitted that with the ‘entrance on the scene’ of DeepSeek, the company has lost some of the progress it had in the area of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.
Asked by a participant in this session about how DeepSeek affected OpenAI's plans, co-founder and CEO Sam Altman admitted that the Chinese company has "a very good model."
However, Altman said OpenAI will continue working on improving its own model. “We will develop better models, but we will have a smaller lead than we have had in recent years,” the OpenAI leader noted according to Digital Trends.
